If the answer to any or all of these questions is yes, the chances are that if you arent already involved in re-enactment, then it could be the hobby for you, and Frasers in particular would like to hear from you - we are always on the lookout for new members. |

So what do I let myself in for if I join ? Frasers Highlanders is a non-political, non-profit making group. Any money we earn from events is ploughed back into the regiment to buy new equipment and keep improving. We do charge a membership fee in order to cover our administrative costs, but this is also covers your Lace Wars membership fee - this goes to pay for the Societys insurance. As a member you will receive a new members pack, giving you details on kit, safety and events. You will receive regular updates and news, as well as details of upcoming events. You will also get our quarterly newsletter The Cormorant, and the Lace Wars newsletter The Listed Man. On coming to an event you will always be made to feel very welcome and helped in any way we can do so. Spare costume, weapons and equipment are always available to be lent to new members, and full training in weapons use is given (although if you wish to use a firing musket you will need a valid UK shotgun licence and black-powder certificate). If you do not feel happy or safe with what you are doing, you will not be allowed on a battlefield. We pride ourselves on our high standards of safety and aspire to similar standards in authenticity. Above all, we aim to see that you enjoy yourself, regardless of your age or background, all are welcome - whether or not you are an experienced re-enactor or new to the hobby. We also have women who act as soldiers cross-dressing for many of our events where it is deemed appropriate! We also welcome prospective civilians and camp-followers. If you would like further details or have any queries, please dont hesitate to e-mail us. |
