Articles

Whilst our ‘History’ Page is designed to give a general background and provide information for those new to the subject, this page is designed to give more detailed information on specific subjects by a series of submitted articles relevant to the 18th century and Highland life in general, and the Jacobite Risings in particular. Below you will find three sections which it is worth studying, which we will update regularly, which are:

The Moderated Article Section - Anyone may submit an article to this section - be they a member of Fraser’s, a Re-enactor or not, all are welcome. However with this section we will moderate all articles - that is to say they will be given to our review panel of graduate historians and sent back to the author with a critique which must be acted upon prior to publication in this section. We will never ask you to change the subject, thesis or argument of your article, merely make suggested changes based on supporting evidence, academic presentation and so on. This is intended to be an academic and intellectually reliable section - all submissions must be footnoted, have relevant supporting evidence and a bibliography. Those who do not wish to change their article after it has been critiqued may instead submit it to the below section for direct publication.

The Unmoderated Article Section - This is a general article section where we welcome submissions again from any source, on any relevant topic, but will simply publish them in this section uncritically - and as such cannot vouch for the historical validity of the articles published here.

The Notes and Queries Section - This is intended to be a section where anyone can send in notes, comments, questions or answers on any of the articles published, or other information on this website, or on the period in general - even pictures are welcome. Any submissions for any of the above sections should be e-mailed to us as below. Anyone intending to submit anything or use for any purpose anything out of the above sections should read the Editiorial Notes below first.
