Lace Wars

Government troopsFrasers belongs to the 18th century Re-enactment society ‘Lace Wars’, a group which is dedicated to accurately re-enacting the mid-eighteenth century period, with particular emphasis on the 1745 Jacobite Rising.

Lace Wars was formed in 1995 for the 250th anniversary of the ‘45 Rising, from units made up of experienced re-enactors from many different societies, who had been asked to put on a specific re-enactment of the battle of Prestonpans. Having invested large amounts of time and money into research, costume and drill, many of the participants decided to form a new society in order to continue their interest - particularly after the success of the Prestonpans event. Thus was Lace Wars born.

Lace Wars is a national group of over 100 members which performs regularly around Britain, doing drill displays, battle re-enactments and Living Histories, organised either by the society at large or its constituent units. It also works closely with other 18th century groups (see Links page), and is highly respected for its high standards. The Society does regular events for English Heritage, and has also done film and television work.

Currently Lace Wars consists of the following groups or units:
